406 Coupe Club Birthday Meet
Peugeot have announced that 2010 marked its 200th year producing motor vehicles across the globe.
It’s also 80 years since Pininfarina, the Italian car design and coachbuilder, began collaborating to produce Prototypes, show and custom cars for both the auto industry and the private sector.
In the late 50′s Pininfarina helped the french car maker achieve success with the Peugeot 403 and 404. The 70′s saw the 504 coupe and cabriolet get touches of Italian magic and then right through the 80′s and 90′s we saw a slew of models including the 205, 405 and 306 right up to the modern 1007 supermini.
But there was one car produced from this joint collaborative that stood out from the rest…the Peugeot 406 Coupe.
This highly successful and multi award winning modern classic inspired owners so much that 5 years ago to this day the 406 Coupe Club was formed.
To celebrate these anniversaries the club, with almost 5000 members, have decided to hold a special ‘birthday’ meet on Sunday, 23rd May, in the grounds of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, in the heart of the New Forest National Park.
The anniversary meet will be the perfect opportunity for owners, past and present, to come along and meet other members, whilst exchanging knowledge and chat of what is fast becoming a rare car.
David Bater of the 406 Coupe Club said: “This special birthday meet at Beaulieu is shaping up to be the biggest ever, even beating the French 406 Coupe club’s record. We already have over 70 cars signed up, coming from France and Holland as well as the UK, and are hoping the final total may reach 100.”
406 Coupe owners wishing to participate in the meet should arrive at the Beaulieu attraction from 10am, no pre-booking is required. In addition to the meet, there is the whole Beaulieu attraction to enjoy, including the National Motor Museum with its collection of over 250 vehicles plus World of Top Gear, Palace House, home of the Montagu family, and Beaulieu Abbey ruins.
