Getting the adoption off to a grand start General Manager John Sedgwick presented David Jones (pictured above) of St Teresa’s Hospice with a cheque for £1,000.

The money was raised at the SG Petch annual golf day, which saw up to 80 people take part last year.

Thanks to the help of their suppliers SG Petch managed to source sixteen bin bags full of prizes and goodies, which were auctioned off to raise the money.

Mr Sedgwick said: “St Teresa’s Hospice is a great charity which is local to Darlington and close to our hearts.”

The adoption will see SG Petch supporting St Teresa’s Hospice throughout the year, and thy have already pledged help with a trailer for St Teresa’s Hospice’s tombola at events at Croft Circuit over the summer.

David Jones, St Teresa’s Hospice Fundraising Manager, said: “Support from businesses is especially valuable to us not just because of the practical help they can offer but also as fresh groups of people to recruit from to take part in our various events. We look forward to working with SG Petch over the coming year.”

St Teresa’s Hospice offers free care and services for residents of South-Durham and North-Yorkshire who are affected by life-limiting illness with the aim of improving their quality of life.

St Teresa’s Hospice must raise around £1.5million a year to maintain these vital services.

St Teresa’s Hospice is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Andrew started with the company at West Auckland in March 1986 as a parts trainee before taking over as parts manager and assisting with the service department.

In 1995, when the company moved its Darlington operation from Victoria Road to a new supersite on McMullen Road, Andrew took over as branch Aftersales Manager.

2001 saw Andrew promoted to Group Aftersales Manager before being appointed Aftersales Director in June 2006.

After his presentation from Managing Director Steve Petch, Andrew said: “The past 25 years seem to have gone very quickly and it’s fantastic to see the way the business has grown. I’m very fortunate and proud to work for a progressive company like SG Petch and look forward to another 25 years”.
