The full specification and pricing for the all new i30 have now been announced by Hyundai. The exciting new arrival is due to be launched in the UK on 12th March.

Prices start from £14,495 on the road, which gets you the entry Classic model, with insurance group ratings of 7E, making it one of the most cost effective C-segment cars to own and run.

The original i30 was first launched in 2007, being the first of Hyundai’s popular ‘i’ range. The i30 introduced new standards of driveability and quality, with the all new i30 building on the achievements of the car it replaces. Also improving on Style, Technology and Interior Quality.

The New i30 leaves you spoilt for choice, being available in Classic, Active, Style and Style Nav trim levels, with a choice of Diesel or Petrol engines, in Automatic or Manual transmission. As well as including Hyundai’s ultra-efficient 1.6 litre diesel engine that emits less than 100 g/km CO2.

Mitsubishi have endured many daunting challenges during 2011, but they still managed a volume increase of 7% compared to CY 2010 with 149,967 sales vs 140,311 sales the previous year.

Mitsubishi have achieved this positive result in spite of a very convoluted economic environment in the region, it was also the end of scrappage incentives in markets like France, the effect of austerity measures in Greece, Spain and Portugal or Ireland as well as as a very fluctuating customer confidence overall.

As well as severe economic circumstances for European customers, Mitsubishi also had to endure the consequences of both very unfavourable exhange rates and also the natural disasters which hit Asia, like all other Japanese manufacturers. The effect of flooding in Thailand over the supply chain for the L200 resulted in a one month production loss due to parts supply, and the earthquake in Japan also affected the J-manufactured product supply chain, even though there was no direct damage to MMC’s production installations, they still had power shortages and interruptions in the supply chain of certain variant-specific parts which led to adjustments in the production schedule and tempory change in mix- away from those variants subject to shortage of certain parts.

Volumes were recovered and Mitsubishi’s production returned back to normal in October.

The Fiat 500 shows it superiority among its business community by winning the 2012 BusinessCar Awards for the forth consecutive year.

The award is voted by the readers of BusinessCar magazine and is decided by the business car industry carriers with the approval of the fleet market. The award was for the entire 500 range rather than one specific model.

The Fiat 500 is no stranger to awards and has a long lists of honours in its name, this list includes the Car of the Year 2008, along with several from the UK’s leading consumer and trade titles.

Paul Barker editor of BusinessCar commented “”Fiat’s 500 has again proved to be a business car market favourite, and Fiat’s advancement with its TwinAir technology has enhanced the excellent city car’s appeal to the sector”, “The readers of BusinessCar are obviously fans of the 500′s combination of fun and frugality, having picked it as their favourite city car for the fourth year in a row.”

Marketing Director Elena Bernardelli of Fiat Group Automobiles UK and Ireland said “”Four entries and four straight wins is wonderful news and a great tribute to the Fiat 500, which continues to appeal both to private customers and fleets, The 500 is a car that thousands of people want to have as their own, but it’s good to see how popular it is as a serious business tool too.”

The Fiat 500 is available with a choice of ultra-low emissions Euro 5 engines, 85bhp 0.9-litre TwinAir, 69 bhp 1.2-litre and 100bhp 1.4-litre petrol, and 95 bhp 1.3-litre MultiJet turbodiesel. It also comes in a variety of trim levels and prices start at just £9960, which is outstanding value for money.

The Government have announced that the Plug-in Car Grant has been extended, which has been welcomed by Nissan.

The grant now applies to vans which means 20% off to buyers, can give up to £8000 off the price of an electric van. At the moment Nissan are conducting real-world tests of a prototype zero-emission all-electric delivery vehicle in London. Nissan and FedEx Express are collaborating over a two month period to evaluate how the NV200 electric vehicle prototype copes with the rigours of daily duties in the nation’s capital.

The Nissan LEAF will start to be produced in Nissan’s Sunderland plant from 2013. Nissan recently announced, with an initial capacity of 50,000 vehicles, the plant will also start the production of batteries for the LEAF in early 2012. Nissan are investing a total of £420 million into the LEAF project, this will help maintain the 2,250 jobs at Nissan and across the UK supply chain.

James Wright, Managing Director at Nissan Motor (GB) Limited said: “Today’s announcement reinforces the Government’s commitment to improving air quality in cities and reducing carbon emissions.

“This grant, coupled with lower running costs and tax benefits, will make switching to an electric van a very attractive option for businesses.”

The electric version of the NV200 van will go on sale in early 2013.

Nissan announced the latest must have iPhone kit – a self healing case. The Nissan Scratch Shield iPhone Case features there pioneering self-healing paint finish, a world first in paint technology.

The paint was developed in 2005 and has already been used in a number of Infiniti products and Nissan models. Now this technology has been applied to a product that’s prone to scratched through everyday use – the smartphone – with Nissan’s new Scratch Shield case iPhone owners everywhere can keep their phone looking its best for longer.

The paint was developed in collaboration with the University of Tokyo and Advanced Softmaterials Inc, this unique paint finish was designed for automotive use and is available on the Nissan 370Z, Murano, X-Trail and the Infiniti range of products. Now thanks to Nissan’s pioneering approach this technology has been used for the first time on a non-automotive product.

The Nissan Scratch Shield iPhone case was designed using several automotive engineering innovations to deliver a durable and long-lasting paint coat that fits tightly around the case. The case has three key benefits: its highly flexible, and allows fine scratches to quickly mend themselves, it has a tactile-gel like glossy surface which is more scratch-resistant than conventional paint and also provides a better grip. The case itself is made of ABS plastic which is a high grade substance that is used in the automotive industry regularly, its more rigid and robust than other plastics. The outer ‘paint’ is made from polyrotaxane, this means when damage does occur to the coating, in the form of a fine scratch, the chemical structure is able to react and change back to its original shape and fill the gap – “healing” the blemish.

“We like to think laterally by taking the great innovations we’ve got from an automotive point of view, and looking at how they could be applied to improve everyday issues. The Scratch Shield iPhone case is a great example of us taking a Nissan automotive technology that has had a huge impact for our customers, and then shifting the boundaries to apply it to another everyday product” commented Bob Laishley, Overseas Programme Director Business Development for Nissan in Europe.

“We’re really excited about the possibilities provided by this technology. In Japan, we’ve already linked up with world-leading mobile operator NTT DoCoMo to allow them to use the Scratch Shield technology on its Style Series N-03B mobile phones, and we think this technology has real scope beyond the automotive world. We’re passionate about innovations that get people excited, and that means not being restricted to one industry or genre.”

An initial batch of prototypes of the Scratch Shield iPhone cases have been produced by Nissan for BETA testing with selected journalists and customers, if the demand proves strong, the case should be on sale later this year.
