Mitsubishi Announce ASX Crossover Prices from £14999

Starting from only £14,999 for the entry level 1.6 ASX 2, the new crossover will be a game-changer for the Japanese car maker offering customers who normally buy a Golf or a Focus the chance to own an active sports crossover SUV for a similar price.

Competing against the likes of the new Hyundai iX35 SUV and the more established Nissan Qashqai, the ASX is Mitsubishi’s second foray into the competitive expanding crossover marketplace after launching its new Outlander two years ago, a car the ASX shares over 70% of its component architecture with.

New Diesel Technology

The MIVEC Diesel Is Worlds First With Variable Valve Timing

The new ASX crossover will be the world’s first passenger car to offer variable valve timing in a diesel engine. With a new low compression ratio of just 14.9:1, the worlds lowest for a diesel engine, the MIVEC units offer a variable geometry turbo-charger producing 150PS @ 4000 rpm with only 145 g/km of CO2 emissions. That will establish it in the Band F bracket with an annual road tax of just £125 a year.

For petrol heads there’s a newly developed 1.6 unit, derived from the successful Colt 1.5 litre petrol engine. Offering 117 PS @ 6000 rpm with emission output as low as 135 g/km and Band E/£110 per year road tax.

Available in either 2 or 4 wheel drive, depending on model, the ASX has an impressive list of features as standard. Alloy wheels, air conditioning, Automatic Stop & Go, Active Stability Control and Traction Control, aux-in jack, keyless entry, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, dual stage front side and curtain airbags, driver’s knee airbag, tilt and telescopic steering column to name but a few.

The ASX 3 gains fully automatic air conditioning, one touch starting, cruise control, heated seats, privacy glass, audio wheel controls, Bluetooth, leather covered steering wheel and shift knob, automatic lights and windscreen wipers, chrome exterior detailing whilst the ASX 4 gains leather seats and Kenwood in-car entertainment incorporating iPod control, sat nav and a reversing camera.

Safety is a high priority these days and so you won’t be surprised to find the ASX has already achieved the Euro NCAP 5-star badge thanks to its RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) energy dispersion crash safety structure. Add to that whiplash reducing seats, up to 7 airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Active Stability Control, traction Control, Hill Start Assist and Emergency Stop signal System and you know your in a very safe place indeed. Of course if your unfortunate enough to be hit by one then pedestrian protection measures include plastic front wings, a double bulge bonnet and energy absorbing front bumper.

The ASX should be in our showrooms around 1st July but for more information visit our Mitsubishi ASX website or call our team on freephone 0800 980 4533.
